Exciting news just keeps getting delivered from D23 Expo! Star Wars: Rogue One, Lucasfilm’s first movie in a standalone series, has begun principal photography. With this announcement comes another as two more actors have been cast! Alan Tudyk (I guess you can’t take the sky from him…badum tiss) and Mads Mikkelsen have joined, alongside Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker and Riz Ahmed.
This film will take place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and be about a group of people that are brought to pull of a heist. What exactly is this heist if you haven’t already heard? Just to steal the blue prints for the first Death Star.
Something this branch of movies will be focusing on seems to be the regular people, not anyone in a high position of power, no one with the Force that we know of, but regular blue collars and maybe some scoundrels.
The anthology series will be debuting between the larger arc movies, and the first will be directed by Gareth Edwards who previously directed Godzilla last summer, and written by Gary Witta, who wrote the script for The Book of Eli and Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead.
Star Wars: Rogue One is set to be released on December 16, 2016.
