Magic Mike XXL releases soon over the July 4th weekend and writer Reid Carolin sat down for an interview with Screen Rant in which a few details about the new Gambit movie he is producing were revealed.

As we know, Channing Tatum, star of MM XXL, will be portraying Gambit in the upcoming movie set in New Orleans, LA. While Tatum’s Cajun accent doesn’t seem to be fully realized quite yet, Carolin introduced the actor to an old friend from college who has helped Tatum brush up and learn some light of hand, as well as how to throw the cards like a pro.
Gambit is a mutant who has the ability to charge objects with kinetic energy. He’s appeared in many arcs of the X-Men comic series, and is well-known to always have a deck of cards (come on, that’s 52 explosives right there) and his trademark bo staff.
While the casting might have put some people off, it’s going to be interesting to see what kind of power Tatum puts in the character and how well he channels our favorite X-Man’s signature fighting style. I think it’s going to be a rip-roaring good movie to say the least, and I await the trailer!
Carolin confirmed that Gambit is slated to start filming in New Orleans this fall, with a scheduled release on October 7, 2016.
