NYCC Introduces New Ticketing Process to Deter Scalpers

Scalpers and late deciders beware! New York Comic Con has introduced a new ticketing process.

Convention-goers are now required to fill out an online Fan Verification Profile between May 20 and June 13 in order to be eligible to attend NYCC. Those who do not fill out this form will be barred from purchasing tickets.

Under the new rules, fans purchasing more than one ticket to NYCC must have a profile created for each person who wishes to attend the event, and there will be a purchase limit of only one ticket per profile per day.

NYCC officials hope that this new ticketing system will deter and eliminate scalping, a process where businesses and individuals purchase tickets in bulk and resell them for astronomically higher prices.

“This is being done with you in mind and the hope that more of you will get the opportunity to experience NYCC,” Show Manager Lance Fensterman explained in an official press release.

In addition to this new ticketing system, NYCC has decided to do away with VIP tickets for 2016. Fans will still have the option of purchasing 3-day passes.

An official date for ticket sales has yet to be announced, but verified fans will be notified via email 48 hours prior to their release.

NYCC returns to the Javitz Center in New York City October 6, 2016, – 9, 2016.
