New Arkham Origins TV Spot

Get a rare glimpse into the childhood evolution of Batman! batmanlittle

The newest TV Spot for Batman: Arkham Origins expands on the background of the young and newly orphaned Bruce Wayne, allowing us a brief, typically unseen look into the tween and teen years of the budding crime fighter.

But there is one major aspect of the story of Bruce Wayne/Batman missing from this advertisement: his hair.

Okay, well maybe it’s not MAJOR, but seeing Bruce without that signature jet black hair is definitely a little strange!

Check out the new spot below.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be available for PlayStation and Xbox on October 25th.

What do you think about a bald batman? Let us know in the comments below! (I secretly dig it)

Ron Burgundy and… Dodge?

I don’t know how to put this… but the Dodge Durango is kind of a big deal.

That’s at least according to Dodge’s newest spokesperson: Ron Burgundy.

In a clever (and, may we add, absolutely hilarious) dual advertising campaign, Dodge has joined forces with Paramount Pictures in a series of new short commercials aimed at advertising both Dodge’s remodeled SUV and Paramount’s new film, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

In the advertisements, Burgundy (portrayed by Will Ferrell) struggles with the aspect of “MPG”, shoos away dancers who got a little too close to his ride, verbally abuses a horse, and educates the masses into just how much gum can fit in the Durango’s glove box. Spoiler Alert! It’s 70.

Check out just a few of the advertisements!

You can watch even more on youtube here.

Rowling Announces New Film

J.K. Rowling recently announced that she’s bringing back the magical world of goblins, witches, trolls, and spells in her screenwriting debut with “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.

The film will be produced by Warner Bros., the company responsible for all eight Harry Potter films, and will tell the story of Newt Scamander: author of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and famed magizoologist (a zoologist specializing in magical creatures).

And Potter fans: If the title of the film sounds familiar to you, it should! “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” was on Harry’s required reading list as a first year student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

But don’t expect to see the boy who lived in the upcoming saga.

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” said Rowling in her official statement on her website. “Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.”

Daniel Radcliffe confirmed his iconic character’s absence in the film during a press event for the new Sky Arts series “A Young Doctor’s Notebook & Other Stories”, stating “I, needless to say, won’t be involved. I don’t know if any of us [the original cast] will be. I know nothing about it.”

A release date for the film has yet to be officially announced.

How do you feel about this rekindling of magic? Let us know in the comments below!

Costumes to avoid this Halloween

You spent hours shopping in the stores and online looking for the perfect, modern, socially relevant Halloween costume, and finally your searching has paid off! You’re feeling confident, looking absolutely amazing and are ready to show that Halloween party what you’re made of.

Yet when you get there, things are looking spookily familiar. Turns out, you’re not the only one who had that perfect, modern, and socially relevant costume idea. Now the scariest part of your Halloween isn’t that creepy, realistic zombie in the corner who must have hired the makeup team from The Walking Dead, or the mystery of what actually is in the punch bowl, but the constant comparisons to another person’s costume.

Wonderful.

Don’t be a cliche this Halloween! Here’s a list of some Halloween costumes for guys and gals to absolutely avoid this year.

ABSOLUTELY ANYONE FROM DUCK DYNASTY

This Halloween season we’re sure to see plenty of Robertson-would-be’s. All you need is camouflage pants, a semi-dirty black shirt, and a full, scratchy fake beard and voila – you’re a redneck millionaire. Add a blue plastic cup full of iced tea (or at least a drink costumed as iced tea),and then you can be the goofy, loveable and at times incoherent Uncle Si. It’s no secret that the world is in love with Duck Dynasty right now, and the costume itself is actually really easy and inexpensive. But that’s why you need to avoid it. In fact, many party stores and costume retailers are already carrying their own versions. Sure, it’s a great, crowd pleasing costume, but if you’re going to be out in public with many other costumed characters, you might want to reconsider this one.

WALTER WHITE (BREAKING BAD)

Continuing on with the TV costume trend, the notorious, fictional drug lord Walter White (Bryan Cranston) is another addition to this year’s costume ‘don’t’ list. Fan’s are still reeling from the recent series finale of the enormously popular AMC series Breaking Bad, so this Halloween we’ll definitely get to see many different variations of Walter White, including the basic bald caps and glasses to his crystal meth making safety gear.

CATWOMAN

An obvious inclusion, as well as a perennial favorite. Whether it’s the basic cat ears and whip, Michelle Pfeiffer’s messy stitched getup, Halle Berry’s original take, or a vintage take with Arkham City’s sexy yet functional suit, you can’t hit a Halloween party without seeing some variations of Gotham City’s sexy anti-hero, Selina Kyle.

NEARLY EVERY MODERN POPSTAR

A lot of pop stars utilize wacky, colorful get-ups in their performances, which makes recreating that as a costume extremely fun. The problem is, most of the time people have the same idea, and Halloween gatherings tend to look more like the VMA’s or a look-a-like convention. So while your Nicki Minaj costume may be supreme, chances are someone else is channeling her as well. Expect to see plenty of Nicki’s, Lady Gaga’s, Kesha’s, Katy Perry’s and, a perennial, Amy Winehouse’s this Halloween season.

Know of some more cliched costumes that we should add to the list? Let us know down below in the comments!

How to earn money with apps

It may only be October, but the holiday’s are going to be here sooner than we know it, guys. I’m sure many of our wallets cringe at the sight of Christmas lights every year, so ease their suffering and prepare early! And no, that doesn’t have to mean working overtime and collecting lint-covered pennies that have been stuck in the couch cushions for who-knows-how-long. Your smartphone can be a source of income, and here’s three legitimate (and may I add, FREE), safe apps you can find in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store that make it possible:

Courtesy of Shopkick.comSHOPKICK

We’ve all seen those advertisements: “Want to get paid to shop? Click Here!” A tempting dream, but of course we know it’s too good to be true.

But Shopkick might just be the closest thing. This app allows you to “check in” to select stores (including Target, Macy’s, Best Buy and American Eagle) from your smart phone and collect “kicks”, which when added up translate into gift cards!

Pretty awesome, right?

And it doesn’t stop there. You can collect even more kicks by scanning barcodes in select stores and can even get kicks for purchases you make by syncing your credit or debit card with the app.

CHECKPOINTS

Original image from https://i1.wp.com/1.bp.blogspot.com/-0LPtnGTg5Dw/T_Xg4yyln1I/AAAAAAAAG0Q/Aa1WvCuP7dE/s200/checkpoints-logo.jpg?resize=200%2C200

You can easily make this app your best friend during a trip to the grocery store. Checkpoints, in a similar fashion to Shopkick, allows you to scan a variety items including ice cream, kitty liter and laundry detergent for points and coins. The points can be banked and redeemed for gift cards, while the coins can be used to play mini in-app games which give you the opportunity to win even more coins, including a jackpot of 100,000 points.

APPTRAILERS

The premise is eImage courtesy of bubblews.comasy: watch trailers, get points, and redeem those points for gift cards or PayPal credit.

On select trailers, there even is the option to download the app (don’t worry, they’re free) for more points, and you can gain even more by leaving a tip on said app. For every 3 tips you do, you earn 500 points – essentially 50 cents.

It’s very easy to get $10 within only a few days of downloading the app by taking advantage of the offers and by getting tip bonuses, but after that earning points drastically slows down. But if you stick with it, then over time it’ll pay off – literally.

Have you tried any of these apps or want to know more? Leave a comment!

Sugar: Sweet Ways to Exfoliate

Image via beauty-advices.comExfoliating your face and body is an amazing way to achieve beautiful, soft, glowing skin. And it’s easy! Simply scrub your body gently with an abrasive substance, and poof! Say goodbye to all that flaky, built up dead skin.

But with the process being so simple, why do so many of us invest in costly facial scrubs? In truth, you can get the same, fresh results not by visiting your local drugstore, but rather your very own kitchen.

So open up your cabinets and crack out the sugar, ladies!

Sugar’s naturally soft, yet abrasive texture makes it the perfect exfoliant for your skin. There’s no discrimination between sugars, either. Both the white and brown varieties of sugar will work equally well. Yet if you desire a stickier substance, brown sugar will definitely be your best choice.

And considering how so many of us already have sugar at our disposal, this at-home beauty treatment is totally budget friendly. That’s going to be a welcomed relief to many wallets, especially with the YWCA estimating that women are spending over $7 billion on beauty products annually.

But it’s not only economical, it’s 100% natural.

Next time you find yourself in the beauty aisle, pick up a facial wash and read the drug facts. You’re sure to see ingredients such as neopentyl glycol dicaprylate, disodium lauroamphodiacetate, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, propylparaben, and cocamidopropyl betaine. I don’t know about you all, but I can barely pronounce those words, let alone understand what impact they have on my skin. As it turns out, most of these ingredients are simply chemical agents meant to bond the product together, as well as agents designed to preserve the product during it’s possibly lengthy shelf life.

Image via buzzle.comWith sugar, you skip the unnecessary chemicals and get straight to the sweet result you desire.

But don’t start rubbing sugar on your skin just yet. The same abrasive properties in sugar that remove dead skin also have the power to injure new cells. Without a moisturizing agent, you run the risk of a bad skin rash or even cuts.

To solve this problem, you just need to get a little culinary.

Half a teaspoon of honey and a full teaspoon of sugar will create a wonderful facial scrub full of antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. And if honey isn’t on hand, extra virgin olive oil will work just as well and will moisturize your skin in the process.

For those of you who suffer from acne and oily skin, this must sound like a nightmare. But don’t worry! You can turn your favorite facial wash into an exfoliant by simply mixing a few sprinklings of sugar into your wash.

Beautiful skin at a low cost? Now that’s what I call sweet.

Have any other exfoliation ideas? Let us know in the comments below!

Xbox Expected This Year

Xbox 360 with Kinect

The gaming world has been buzzing with excitement since Sony announced the PS4 last week. But for Microsoft, the Japanese electronics company didn’t announce new technology, but rather a declaration of war. Now, Microsoft is making their move and has a simple message for Sony: its game on.

Less than 24 hours after Sony’s announcement, the domain XboxEvent.com was registered by Eventcore – a company responsible for the planning of large, professional events, including the 2013 AT&T developer summit.

With this new development, It’s now evident that Microsoft is planning on revealing the Xbox this year.

And because the race is now on for the Xbox to be released in time to compete with the PS4 during the holiday shopping season, we can expect a large, and likely live, announcement by Microsoft within the coming months. This will likely happen before this summer’s E3 expo, which was originally rumored to be the stage for the Xbox’s release.

But we’re going to have to wait until that official announcement to get any details about the newest heir to the Xbox throne. The tight-lipped Microsoft has yet to reveal (or leak) any information about the new Xbox’s hardware, appearance, or features to the public. Even the popularized name of the new console, the Xbox 720, is still a matter of speculation.

Sony Announces PlayStation 4

Screen Shot 2013-02-21 at 6.25.14 PM

Sony announced Wednesday in New York that the newest generation of console gaming, the PlayStation 4, will finally be released during the holidays! And judging by the details the Japanese electronics giant has currently released about the PS4, it seems that a lot of gamers are going to be drafting their wish lists early this year.

A powerhouse capable of lightning speed, the PS4 will come fully armed with eight x86-64 AMD Jaguar CPU cores, and will boast an impressive 8GB of GDDR5 memory – a huge leap from the PS3, which operates with a mere 256MB GDDR3. Mark Cerny, lead system architect for the PS4, referred to the new system as “like a PC, but supercharged.” More power behind the PlayStation means that the system will turn on and off almost instantaneously, and you’ll even be able to shut the system down mid game and reboot without losing a single step.

In addition to hardware upgrades, the PlayStation’s classic DualShock controller has received a facelift. The controller still has the basic, classic styling, but gamers now can expect better rumble and enhanced motion sensibility. Amongst the new features on the controller include a touchpad located on front of the device, a headphone jack, and a “share” button, giving you the opportunity to gloat about your progress to friends, or seek their help in a tough spot.

For those who wish to play their PS3 games on the PS4: you’re out of luck. Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will not support backwards compatibility. But this doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy classics from the past. Sony is introducing a new system called “PlayStation Cloud”, which will allow you to access old titles from past PlayStation systems without need of a physical disc. However, specific details surrounding how exactly the cloud will operate are still, well, clouded.

More details about the PS4 are likely to be revealed within the coming months, but for right now Sony isn’t pulling the curtains completely.

Not a single complete image of the console was shown during Sony’s two hour long presentation, leaving the appearance of the new system still shrouded in mystery. And while it has been announced that the console will be released some time during the holiday season, a solid street date and estimated pricing has not yet been revealed to the public.
