‘Batman v Superman’ is Getting the R-Rated Treatment!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is jumping on the R-rated superhero movie bandwagon!

Warner Bros. recently released the trailer for the film’s ultimate edition, which will include 30 minutes worth of never-before-seen scenes and action sequences, the latter of which were apparently too gruesome for PG-13 audiences.

Characters who didn’t make the theatrical cut will have their time to shine in this edition, including Hunger Games star Jena Malone, who portrays a mystery character in the film.

This R-Rated edition may be a little too post-mortem for the film, which was largely panned by critics and audiences, but hey, better late than never.

Check out the trailer for the ultimate edition:

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits digital shelves June 28 and store shelves July 19. The ultimate edition will be available only in Blu-ray combo packs, which will include the ultimate edition and the theatrical edition.

Will you be picking up the ultimate edition? Let us know in the comments!

Unboxings: Comic Block March 2016 From Nerd Block Unboxing

I just received the new Comic Block that has been retooled by Nerd Block. Comic Block has gone up in price for monthly subscribers, but now is supposed to have more geeky collectibles to put it on the same level of the other Nerd Block themed blocks. Comic Block always came with at least 4 comics, and some other themed collectibles, but now it is promising 4-6 comics, and a comic t-shirt with its comics themed collectibles. Nerd Block stops short of promising a Funko Pop in every box, which is probably one of the most popular collectible items out there, but they now packing their Comic Blocks with an estimated $60 in value (their estimation, of course.) So, is the $5 dollar price increase worth it? You’ll have to watch the video to find out! Don’t forget to subscribe to our Youtube channel for more unboxings!

5 Things Wrong with the ‘Batman v Superman’ Trailer

The new trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is out, and boy does everyone have an opinion on it. Some hate it, some love it, and some would rather wait for Captain America: Civil War and forget that the DC Universe even exists cinematically.

I’m not sure where I, a huge DC fan, even stand on the film, but I do know for sure that I don’t have the same level of excitement towards the film that I did before seeing the latest trailer. Now the film just seems cheesy, and not the good kind of cheese like provolone, gouda, or Vermont cheddar. This is some straight up discount American cheese, and, I’m not sure if the film is going to be the super sandwich we all hoped it would be.

There are some problems that definitely need to be addressed, and while we could analyze this trailer for days to find every little flaw, I’m going to save myself (and you!) some time by pointing out only 5 of these issues.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, check it out below and formulate your own opinions, lest I bias you with mine before you even see it for yourself:

Okay, have we all seen it? Excellent. So, without further adieu, here are 5 things that are horribly wrong with the trailer for Batman v Superman…according to me, at least:

1. Lex Luthor

Is it just me, or does Jesse Eisenberg’s portrayal of Superman’s most notorious nemesis seem a little…Joker-esqe? His mannerisms are pretty goofy and aren’t that similar to the Lex Luthor DC fans know. It might be premature, but I’m going to say bad casting/writing on this one. I hope I’m proven wrong, though, as I definitely would like to enjoy Eisenberg’s take on the classic DC character.

Also, I know we’re viewing these clips totally out of context, but it’s super weird that he’d be amazed to see Clark Kent with Bruce Wayne. I know this awkward dialogue is probably in there as a tool to introduce characters we all pretty much already know (just like how they’re also going to show the Batman origin story…afuckingain), but it makes no sense. Only one of those fellows is actually famous, after all. Well, unless Clark Kent is now the equivalent of Brian Williams, and in that case I totally want to see his rendition of Rappers Delight.

2. Wonder Woman

My issue with Wonder Woman has nothing to do with her casting (she’s portrayed by the captivating Gal Gadot), costume, or the fact that she’s even in a film titled Batman v Superman. No, my issue is that she literally just shows up out of fucking nowhere to save the day, with both Batman and Superman comically bewildered as to why she’s even there.

It would be an absolutely sloppy writing decision to have her just show up out of the blue like that as Wonder Woman for (presumably) the first time, but again, this clip is shown totally out of context. It’s clear that they’ve all met one another before (probably in their civilian gear only), but I’m worried that they won’t flesh out her character enough. This will be Wonder Woman’s first major cinematic debut, and for her to be introduced properly to audiences, it needs to be done right. Fingers crossed they do her justice.

3. The Villain

Those of you who aren’t familiar with DC lore may be wondering who that weird monster laying waste to the city at the end of the trailer is. That’s Doomsday, a Kryptonian monster capable of kicking Superman’s alien ass.

Doomsday is an excellent choice for a villain, as he provides a great challenge for not only Superman, but every other member of the infant Justice League, which will no doubt lead to an awesome co-op beat down.

The problem? He’s a visual nightmare.

This interpretation of Doomsday looks like a sad mutated cross between a Lord of the Rings orc and a Michael Bay Ninja Turtle, and that’s just not okay. Ever.

4. Aquaman

Ummm… where’s Aquaman? The superhero that everyone loves to make fun of is noticeably absent from the trailer, even though we know that Khal Drogo Jason Momoa will be portraying him.

This trailer gives away so much plot information but it can’t show a pivotal member of the Justice League? What’s with the secrecy? And FYI, If they were going to keep anyone a secret, it should have been Doomsday. Or General Zod.

What a crazy twist that would have been. Way to put all your cards face up on the table, Zack Snyder – maybe take a page from J.J. Abrams book next time.

5. The entire Bruce Wayne/Clark Kent dynamic

I found the entire verbal debate between Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent to be super awkward.

For one thing, it’s weird that they are even chatting as their ‘normal’ selves, and for another thing, their conversation was way too heated and convenient to be believable.

It’s really not necessary for them to interact normally in street clothes (or in their case, dapper suits), but I understand that they’re trying to set a tone here and set the story up so it’s more dramatic. But honestly, sometimes strangers just need to be strangers.

Then again, are these guys already aware of one another’s alter egos? Because it definitely seems that way from the trailer. I mean come on, Clark Kent meets Bruce Wayne (who he’s never heard of before, apparently) and the first thing he asks him about is Batman? Give me a break.

And don’t even get me started on Bruce Wayne’s totally diva dirty look he directed at Kent whilst making that Clown remark. You just met the dude, Bruce, chill the fuck out.

Of course its possible that Batman at that point already knew that Kent is Superman, because the latter doesn’t wear a mask, and if Batman feels so strongly against Superman, then he’s sure to have done his research. He is the world’s greatest detective, after all. Having facial recognition software wouldn’t hurt, either.

Final thoughts

Honestly, I want to like this movie, and I do hope that this was just a horribly cut trailer that doesn’t reflect the actual film.  I’ve been waiting for a Justice League mashup, and harsh as I may have been towards this trailer, I will still absolutely be seeing this movie.

Cheesy as it may seem now, this film is going to be total eye porn and will definitely have some entertainment value with its fights and cinematography. Plus, there’s Batman, and I’m always down for some Batman… even if there is some George Clooney nipple suit action involved.

Will the film live up to the hype? We’ll find out when Batman v Superman hits theaters March 25, 2016.

SDCC Day 3 Recap!

So many trailers were revealed at Comic-Con today, but unfortunately not a lot of footage has been officially released on the internet.. at least not just yet. Check out our recap of some of day 3’s most buzz worthy events:

Batman v Superman trailer

It’s here, it’s awesome, and now it’s available for everyone outside the confines of Comic-Con to watch.

Suicide Squad trailer revealed

DC revealed the trailer for Suicide Squad at Comic-Con, but unlike the Batman v Superman trailer, the studio hasn’t officially released it online.

There are plenty of leaked videos online from the panel, so if you do want to get a grainy, illegal view of the Joker & Co., you better get that done before it’s gone!

As for us, we’re just going to wait until they inevitably put the trailer online in all it’s HD glory.

Fox gives fans a first look at X-Men: Apocalypse, Jackman gets emotional11417319_1633109993640042_1397798838_n

Fox gave the panel audience a first look at Apocalypse, but much like Suicide Squad we are going to have to wait before we get the footage.

According to The Hollywood Reporterthe footage begins with a glimpse of Oscar Isaac as the villain, Apocalypse, and ended with James McAvoy Professor X, now completely bald.

Hugh Jackman, who will be reprising his role as Wolverine, spoke briefly, saying that this will be “my last time putting on the claws. This has been the greatest things that has ever happened to me.”

There was an X-Men montage shown prior to the new footage and many of the scenes heavily featured Jackman as Wolverine, all in honor of the actor’s last appearance as his most iconic character.

We do have at least something to share from the event, though. Before the panel even began, Fox was handing out flyers to fans with an artist’s rendering of Apocalypse‘s title character, which you can see on your right.

Deadpool trailer revealed

But once again we aren’t able to see it just yet. Ugh, the folly of man.

From what we’ve heard, the trailer is full of obscenities (as one would expect from an R-rated film) and is absolutely hysterical.

Ryan Reynolds (who plays Deadpool) shared a clip from the raunchy character himself before the panel begin, making fun of his characters past appearances and Reynold’s own superhero past.

Life will be so much better once this footage is shared with the world, that’s for damn sure!

Warner Bros. teases new Green Lantern movie

And speaking of Ryan Reynolds, Warner Bros. teased a new Green Lantern movie

during its introduction of the DC portion of the panel. Among the heroes and villains shown, a logo suddenly popped up saying “Green Lantern Corps.”

Is this an attempt at a reboot? We don’t know, but we certainly hope so!

SDCC Day 1 Recap!

Hunger Games cast bids their farewell to the franchise

The Hunger Games franchise is coming to an end with Mockingjay Pt. 2, and sadly so are the Comic-Con appearances.

The cast and producers were at the convention for their panel, eagerly answering questions from fans in the audience.

Producer Nina Jacobson has some choice words for their end of the franhise. “The end is emotional for all of us,” Jacobson said. “We want to deliver the emotion and the politics of it, all the things that [author] Suzanne [Collins] wanted to say. But we don’t want to say good bye to each other. We all wish there were seven or eight books, not just three. It’s a very emotional conclusion. It’s emotional for us, but it will be emotional for the fans.”

One fan asked Jennifer Lawrence what is similar about her and her famous character, Katniss Everdeen, to which she responded in a very candid fashion “Nothing about us is similar. She’s brave and I’m an actress.”

Check out a few clips from the panel below! More are available on the franchise’s official Instagram page.

William Shatner addresses Star Trek 3 rumors

Will William Shatner appear in Star Trek 3? The actor was recently asked this question by a fan at Comic-Con, but according to Shatner our guess is as good as his!

The Star Trek alum told the audience a story about how he was contacted by J.J. Abrams way back in 2008 in regards to secretly appearing in his 2009 adaptation. This news was leaked by a reporter at an airport, who Shatner swears he didn’t tell. The incident, according to Shatner, seemed have rubbed Abrams the wrong way.

We didn’t get a solid yes or no from Shatner, and considering how Abrams was apparently interested in having him appear (at least at one point in time), his appearance in Star Trek 3 is still a very real possibility!

Revamped Flash costume revealed

Warner Bros. TV brought an entire showcase of hero costumes to Comic-Con this year, but the Flash costume in particular seemed a little different. Season one’s Flash has a costume with a red and gold emblem on the chest, but the costume shown at Comic-Con sports a white and gold emblem. What does this mean, exactly? Well, the most obvious answer is that the Flash’s costume will get a minor face lift for season 2!

This photo comes thanks to Aaron Couch over at The Hollywood Reporter.

Batman v Superman cast will hit the con floor for a surprise autograph session

Well, I guess it’s not a surprise anymore! Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill will be part of the Warner Bros. panel Saturday at Hall H, but Deadline is reporting that they’ll also be heading over to the DC Entertainment booth to sign autographs while they’re in town.

But as to when they’ll show up, that’s not for sure. They could either show up Friday night or on July 11 after their Hall H appearance. Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) will possibly show up as well, but that hasn’t been confirmed.

Transformers animated series coming to Machinima

Hasbro has partnered with the online gamer and video platform Machinima to produce a new animated series based on its Transformers: Combiner Wars line, The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reports.

Combiner Wars has groups of Transformers interlock to form one giant robot, known as a Combiner. Among the new robots are Superion and Menasor. They held the fate of the Transformers’ home world, Cybertron, in their hands.

Teen Wolf renewed for season 6

MTV announced today at Comic-Con that Teen Wolf will be renewed for season 6. A mid season trailer was also released during the event today.

Frank Miller’s Dark Knight III to Feature Additional 16-Page Mini-Comics

We don’t know much about the plot of  The Dark Knight III: The Master Race (which will launch this fall) but we do know one thing to expect: more! DC Entertainment has confirmed that in addition to the core 32-page comic book, each issue of Frank Miller’s eight-issue series will include an additional 16-page mini-comic illustrated by a variety of guest artists.

Halle Berry confirms that she would be up for a Storm standalone movie

Wolverine got his own, so why not Storm? When the actress was asked if she would be down for a Storm movie away from the X-Men franchise, she responded by saying “absolutely.” This doesn’t mean one is in the works, but with the help of her fans it very well could be. She urged her fans to speak up and spread the word!
