Film Friday: ‘The Jungle Book’ Review

This week, I’m reviewing the new live action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic tale about a young boy raised in the jungle and his journey to escape the imminent threat to his life. This happens to be one of my favorite animated classics from Disney. Right now, Disney seems to be on a trend where they want to make live action versions of their previously animated movies. This is a trend that I wish Disney would get over, like their trend to turn all their theme park attractions into live action movies. At least that seems to have stopped with Tomorrowland. Now if you want to know if I think this film is worth a shot, you will have to watch my review below. Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

The Jungle Book is in theaters now, starring Neel Sethi as Mowgli Bill Murray as Baloo, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, and Christopher Walken as King Louie.

First Teaser Trailer for ‘The Jungle Book’ Releases

https://allhdwallpapers.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/the-jungle-book-8.jpg

Following the trend with Disney’s live action remakes of originally animated movies, The Jungle Book, directed by Iron Man’s Jon Favreau, and starring newcomer Neel Sethi  as Mowgli, is set to hit theatres next spring. Yesterday, the studio released its first teaser trailer for the film and held a #thejunglebook Q&A on Twitter.

The original animated movie released in 1967 by Disney, and was based on Rudyard Kipling’s writings, is seeing new light with a combination of live action and photorealistic CGI for the animals and environments in this new film. The film will follow Mowgli, a man-cub whose been raised by wolves. When Mowlgi feels unwelcomed, he flees from the only home he’s known to set out on a quest to find himself with the panther turned mentor Bagheera guiding him along with Baloo, the hippy bear.

The film features some great actors and actresses of this generation, and some I think are really good choices just based off their voices (Where’s Rickman, and Cumberbatch?) Ben Kingsley will lend his voice of Bagheera the panther, and Baloo, the free-spirited (hippy) bear will be voiced by Bill Murray. Scarlett Johansson will hypnotize the audience as Kaa the python, Idris Elba is Shere Kahn, the tiger that makes Mowgli leave his only home, and lastly, Christopher Walken will be King Louie, who tries to talk Mowgli into telling him where the red flower is.

Lupita Nyong’o and Giancarlo Esposito will also lend voices to the film. They will play mother wolf Rakasha and alpha-male Akela.

The Jungle Book will release on April 15, 2016.

Bill Murray Returning to ‘Ghostbusters’

Those of you with serious doubts about the Ghostbusters reboot can breathe just a little easier now:

Bill Murray has officially joined the cast!

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed today that the actor has officially signed on for the reboot of his classic 80s film.

Murray famously played Dr. Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989), but there is no word yet on whether or not he will reprising his role or playing a new character all together.

His casting actually comes as quite a pleasant, but shocking, surprise. Murray has historically always been against the idea of a third Ghostbusters film, and in the past has even thwarted plans for a third film by being the sole holdout of the original cast (which comprised of Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis (RIP), and Ernie Hudson).

Ghostbusters (2016) stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.

Paul Feig directs, with Murray’s fellow Ghostbusters alum Dan Aykroyd writing the script.

The film is currently scheduled for a July 2016 release.

Will the return of Bill Murray be enough to win back reluctant Ghostbusters fans? Let us know what you think in the comments!

Whatcha Gonna Wear? PROTON PACKS AND JUMPSUITS!!

#whatyougonnawear #whatyougonnashoot

Paul Feig posted to Twitter the new costuming for the Ghostbusters reboot, and it’s surprisingly not revamped too much for the ladies!

There’s a comparison between the new and old uniforms and proton packs. What is great is that they are staying true to the original. The jumpsuits are pretty much the same, with the exception of orange bands, which we don’t know yet if or what they represent. I also like how they are baggy and comfortable looking, not skin baring, curve hugging and unrealistic like some might expect from an all girls reboot. The proton packs also seem to be a little smaller in size as well, but with age and technology, things do get smaller and more advanced with time.

I would also like to point out, maybe like an Easter Egg of sorts, they’re keeping the franchise within the Saturday Night Live Family, as half of the original cast and three people from the new cast got their starts on SNL.

Ghostbusters will be making its reboot debut on July 22, 2016, and will star Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon
