First Photos of Chris Pratt & Jennifer Lawrence in ‘Passengers’

Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are finally uniting on screen, and now we have our first look at the blessed union!

The two most wanted (and arguably most liked) actors in Hollywood co-star in the upcoming film Passengers, and Entertainment Weekly was lucky enough to get an exclusive first look.

Check out the photos below!

Pratt and Lawrence star in the film as spacecraft passengers bound for a foreign planet. They both awake from suspended animation 90 years too early, only to find that their ship is malfunctioning. They embark on a mission to save the 5000 “sleeping” passengers aboard the vessel from certain doom, and fall in love in the process.

Because what’s more romantic than imminent death in deep space?

“I honestly couldn’t ask for a better cast,” Passengers director Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) told EW. “They’re so great together, and both of them are so hard-working. They take the characters so seriously and bring so much to the roles with charm and intelligence and charisma. They really went for it and it is phenomenal to watch.”

The film hits theaters on December 21, 2016.

Indiana Jones and the Reboot: Without Indy

https://www.thebinarytrend.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/indiana_jones.jpg

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is one of the first movies I can really remember watching with my mom (besides Alien, and my dad wasn’t too thrilled with that one). The Indian Jones franchise was made and released before I even turned four, yet these were staples for me growing up. Then in 2008, Indian Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull came out, which…let’s put it frankly, went way, way, way, left field with some things, but it was still enjoyable to a point. Since the release of the last movie, there has been a is there, or isn’t there debate regarding a new sequel, and with the success of Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, the world is pretty begging Chris Pratt to be the new Indy.

New reports, however, are stating that when and if the next installment(s) is made, they won’t be going the James Bond route and recasting Indy, but going with a new title character to continue the franchise in the reboot.

Now, I for one don’t want to see an origin series, as it’s kind of already been done in the 1990s with The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

I would love to see the franchise come into the 21st century, and I have my own thoughts as to how they should do it. For the sake of this article, the new guy will be named Jared.

Jared could be a grad student, an aid, or even a professor. We find him in an old storage area, going through boxes to clean up and comes across a diary written by none other than Indy himself, detailing his adventures. And inside, Jared finds a sort of to do list, places and things Indy never got to do in his older days. After reading through the diary, Jared gets that excitement to get up and go on one of these adventures (and the rest in future movies), and hijinks and amazing thrills ensue.

Bumping it up to the 21st century, however, would mean no chance of seeing the real Indy again, because he’s be like 115 years old (having been born in 1899). The same story could also be said and done in the 60s even, with awesome long hair, wide legged pants and all that grooviness.

Whatever they decide to do, I’m sure it will be fantastic and fun. I just hope the conspiracy theory/aliens stay away.

What do you think? With confirmation of them not recasting Mr. Jones,  how would you like the series played out? Let us know in the comments!

Han Solo Prequel Directors Announced!

A Han Solo prequel movie is in the works, and now the project finally has its directors!

Disney announced earlier today that the latest addition to the Star Wars anthology will be directed by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord.

Chances are if you’re unfamiliar with their names, you won’t be unfamiliar with their work: these are the guys that brought us The LEGO Movie, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street.

Miller and Lord shared this joint comment in the official press release:

“This is the first film we’ve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us. This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”

The story will focus on a young Han Solo and will reveal just how he became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel that we first met in the cantina at Mos Eisley.

The screenplay will be written by Lawrence Kasdan and his son, Jon Kasdan.

Lawrence Kasdan is known best for writing Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Big Chill, and Grand Canyon. He has experience with the Star Wars universe as well,  having co-written the screenplays for The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens.

Jon Kasdan wrote and directed The First Time, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and In the Land of Women.  He also was involved in the writing process for Freaks and Geeks and Dawson’s Creek.

There is no word yet on who will be cast as the young Solo, but it seems that the internet has already decided on an actor suitable to play Solo, and he comes with some galactic experience:

This is a rather obvious choice considering Pratt’s physical resemblance to Ford in his youth (not to mention how similar their screen personas are), but as awesome as this choice would be, it’s quite unlikely.

After all, Pratt is already Star Lord! He can’t monopolize all of the galaxies, far far away or not.

We probably won’t know who will be playing Solo for quite a while, as the untitled film is currently slated for a 2018 release.

Who do you think should play young Han Solo? Let us know in the comments below!

Prattkeeping: The Internet’s Newest Meme

So Chris Pratt tamed a few raptors in Jurassic World… big whoop!

Zookeepers have been taming their equally ferocious animals for centuries, and now they’re hilariously showing off their skills in the Internet’s newest meme, #prattkeeping!

Check out some of our favorite ones below:

Sea lions, like raptors, rely on their group for hunting.

Rhinos: the modern day triceratops.

Fun fact: Scientists believe that the world’s oldest found penguin fossil suggests that the flightless birds may have outlived the dinosaurs!

Something seems a little backwards here…

Lemurs, when untrained, can wreak absolute havoc on society. Just watch Zoboomafoo for proof.

You wouldn’t want to meet these otters in a dark alley, that’s for sure.

How do I sign up to Prattkeep some dolphins!?

…But it’s Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon who may just have the toughest (and cutest) job of all.

New Jurassic World Trailer Released!

Universal has just released the latest trailer for Jurassic World!

Hold on to your butts,  we are in for a thrill!

This latest trailer shows us non-stop action and gives us sneak peak at some of the incredible sequences that we are going to see, including a scene where a helicopter, I repeat, a HELICOPTER, is struck down by (presumably) a dinosaur.

The trailer also gives us a better look at Jurassic World’s newest monstrosity, Indominous Rex.

We know already that she is a lab created hybrid, but upon looking closely at her characteristics it’s a fair guess that she is a hybrid of the T-Rex and a Velociraptor. The body of the dinosaur closely resembles the T-Rex, but the shape and styling of her head (as well as that creepy blinking) is a lot more reminiscent of a Raptor.

But since it was revealed that Indominous Rex was designed to be larger than the T-Rex, maybe there’s a third entity mixed in. Perhaps the Spinosaurus (From Jurassic Park III)?

The trailer also gave us more insight into how exactly Chris Pratt’s character is able to tame and control his raptor squad. Many theories online speculated that their obedience may have been due to genetic manipulation, but based on this trailer he seems to be able to “control” them simply through good ol’ R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Everything will be known for sure when Jurassic World hits theaters June 12th.

Did you enjoy the trailer? Let us know in the comments below!

Jurassic World’s Park Website is Incredibly Awesome

Universal has released an official website for the fictitious park featured in Jurassic World, giving us all a sad reminder that we still don’t have theme parks with actual dinosaurs.

But reality aside, the website is actually pretty amazing. It mirrors the website style of those of other theme parks, offering ticket packages, outlying show times, and listing exhibits, restaurants, and lodging opportunities.

Of course those parks don’t have freakin’ dinosaurs.

The website provides information and fun facts about the animals showcased in Jurassic World, including the T-Rex, who is noted to be 25 years old.

This means that the Rex that will appear in Jurassic World may just be our favorite jeep and lawyer munching friend that starred in the first Jurassic Park film.

It seems that the only attraction the park is missing is a close encounter with Chris Pratt, but that’s something we should have no problem conjuring up in our fantasies.

Jurassic World even has a Margaritaville! Say what?!

Jurassic-World-Site-580x329

The disappointment that this isn’t real is almost too much to bear.

But while we may not be seeing real dinosaurs anytime in the near future (or ever), all hope of having a Jurassic World experience isn’t lost.

Jurassic World will, without a doubt, make a killing at the box office. This would create a great opportunity for Universal Studios theme parks to create more modern Jurassic Park themed areas, bringing in patrons who are fans of the film.

Many Universal Studios theme parks have Jurassic Park themed areas already, but based on my own experience with Universal Studios Orlando, those attractions are dated, featuring underwhelming animatronics that have been there since the 1990’s.

But I suppose Universal Studios Orlando is close to being Jurassic World in at least one regard: they already have a Margaritaville.

Let us know what you thought of the website in the comments below!
