This week is E3, The Electronic Entertainment Expo! We are watching all the announcements very closely here at GeekGirl World, and it looks like Fall 2015 is going to be a exciting time for us in the game community. In honor of all the wonderful gaming news, we are counting down the top ten female video game characters.
With E3 events well under way, all the large gaming and software companies are highlighting their big upcoming releases. Microsoft just had their announcement this afternoon, and their news did not disappoint.
For me as a gamer, the biggest letdown for the Xbox One was the inability to play the Xbox 360 games I had already purchased and loved. When the 360 launched, backward compatibility was big news, and original Xbox users were so excited to still be able to play their games with a next gen console. It was announced today – thankfully – a huge selling point for me to make the leap to the One: that this holiday season you will finally be able to play 360 games on One. And the best part of this news is that you won’t have to buy it again through a remake or points.
As of now, there are about 20 games that are in beta using this feature now. It works either by inserting a pre-existing disc into your system and downloading a copy to your console, or by using your Xbox Live account to access your digital library. In the fall when this feature officially releases, there will be about 100 games, with hundreds more added in the following months. Here is the list of games available for backwards compatibility right now:
Banjo and Kazooie: N n B
Battle Block Theater
Geometry Wars Evolved
Perfect Dark Zero
Super Meat Boy
Toy Soldiers: Cold War
Viva Pinata: TIP
Mass Effect is one of the highlights of this list, especially since Mass Effect: Andromeda was announced today as well. Now, we just need to get the Halo franchise on here…
