‘Riverdale’ Set Photos Finally Revealed!

We now have some official photos from the Riverdale set!

Archie Comics’ official Twitter and Instagram pages have posted quite a few photos from the set of their new CW show, showing not only little things like posters, but also BIG things like Pop’s Diner – the main place to hang out for the Archie gang.

Archie Comics first revealed a photo of the fictional town’s local paper in a newspaper rack, its headline reading “Grand Opening for New Cafe in Town.” I’m not going to make a precognitive prediction here, but the fact that they are showing us this may be a nod to a future plot.

Next they posted a sign for Andrews Construction Company with the caption “Maybe the new cafe was built by Andrews Construction? #Riverdale.” This may a twist on how they introduce the character of Veronica, who, in the current comic run of Archie, joined the fray when her wealthy family built their mansion in town. Perhaps this signifies that Archie will be helping his dad in the building efforts in the show, but this is just a prediction.

The cafe is alluded to once again, this time with a photo of a police car with the Riverdale Police logo emblazoned on its side, the caption reading “Maybe the #Riverdale police know about the new cafe? They’ve been serving since 1939, after all.” I’m stumped as to what this may mean, so no predictions here.

The allusions continued when Archie Comics posted a photo of a poster from Riverdale High that says “Spirit Week. Show Your Pride,” with the caption saying “Maybe the gang at #Riverdale High has some info about the new cafe…”

Three straws. #Riverdale

Archie Comics also treated fans to an amazing photo of the outside of Pop’s Diner, which looks so much like its comic book counterpart. We don’t get a very impressive shot of the inside, but we do see a table with a mini jukebox and a milkshake glass, which, as Archie Comics stressed, has three straws.

Pop’s Diner looks absolutely amazing!

The creative team behind Riverdale is clearly catering to Archie fans by showing their deep attention to detail, and as a fan, I fully appreciate this.

The visuals that Archie Comics released are enough to make me believe that I’m actually inside the shop, and I can even hear the jukebox music mixed with the hum of the neon lights. I wish this was a real, freestanding, functioning diner, and like Jughead, I probably would never leave.

I love how everything is looking so far and I can’t wait to see the gang at the shop!

Filming for Riverdale is currently underway, but the CW has yet to release an official air date.

The cast is comprised of K.J Apa (Archie), Cole Sprouse (Jughead), Lili Reinhart (Betty), Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl), Ashleigh Murray (Josie), and Camila Mendes (Veronica).

What do you think of the photos from the Riverdale set so far? Let us know in the comments!

Fan Film Friday: ‘City of Vengeance’ (Green Arrow Fan Film)

Arrow is a show that, in my (not-so-popular) opinion, gets better and better with each passing season. Now that it’s returned from it’s mid-season hibernation, I decided to celebrate Arrow by watching and reviewing a Green Arrow themed fan film. I went with a feature length project by Fire Bird Films called City of Vengeance, which follows the Green Arrow‘s run in with his former friend turned enemy, Deathstroke.

Was it a stroke of genius? Or did it fail to meet my expectations? Most importantly, do I recommend the fan film to you, GeekGirl World?

Find out in my video below:

Watch City of Vengeance and let us know what you think, GeekGirl World!

Want more Fan Film Friday fun? Tune in to past reviews, including one for another Green Arrow themed fan film called The Hood: Black Mask.

And don’t forget to catch Arrow each Wednesday at 8/7c on The CW!

iZombie GIF Crash Course: A Guide to the First Season

So I’ve been crushing hard on CW’s new dramedy, iZombie. I would love to have been recapping it, but Tuesday night was Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. night and you know how that goes. But, in honor of tonight’s season finale, I wanted to clue you geeks and girls who haven’t been watching in to this very layered take on the zombie trope while also giving you regular viewers what you want: GIF recaps of your favorite moments! (Caution: THERE WILL BE SPOILERS!)

iZombie is based on the Chris Roberson Vertigo comic title of the same name but has some notable differences. The CW show features Liv Moore, a recently minted doctor and assistant coroner who has a devastating secret: she’s a zombie.

But she’s not menacing, I promise! Well, not all the time. See, she does need brains to survive, but she’s not out there killing people to get them. Instead, she uses her sweet work hookup to nab some brains from the bodies who pass through the morgue.

Her boss, Ravi Chakrabarti, is devastatingly handsome figured her out immediately and decided to help her continue to pass for human.

He also helped convince Detective Clive Babineaux that Liv is a psychic when, in reality, she gets flashes of memories and vicariously adopts character traits from the owners of the brains she chows down on.

Now she and Babineaux solve crimes together! Each week, Liv eats more brains and her changeable behavior is a constant source of comedy. Observe:

And on. Meanwhile, Liv’s ex-fiancee, Major Lilywhite (yes, that’s really his name!), still wants to be with her and is also really, really, ridiculously good looking. He and Ravi move in together and cultivate a most-excellent bromance.

The season really got going when Major began investigating the disappearances of several homeless teens as Liv and Clive delve into suspicious deaths surrounding energy drink manufacturers, Max Rager. Not to mention the other zombies in town! Blaine is the first one Liv meets – and he’s also the one who made her. Awkward!

Blaine has also figured out a way to make money as a zombie: he runs ill-gotten brains through his restaurant, Meat Cute. (Yeah, it’s adorably punny.) As Major investigates the missing teens, he finds a connection to Blaine’s brain courier service and checks himself into a psychological facility! I mean, finding a cooler full of brains would give me weird ideas, too.

Yes, just when you think you’ve got this show pegged, it does something wholly awesome with the characters. Like Ravi, who thought he was going to go all undead from a zombie rat bite. And Liv’s brother applying for a job at Meat Cute.

Not to mention last week’s explosive episode! Liv’s best friend and roommate, Peyton is treated to something I thought she’d be the last to see: Liv in full-on zombie mode fighting another zombie to the death in their house.

And Major discovers the existence of zombies and vows to kill ’em all.

Then he gets kidnapped!

Oh, my heart. I don’t know if I can handle tonight’s finale. I just hope Major doesn’t die. #RaJorfolyfe

Tune in to the season finale of iZombie tonight and let us know what you think!

First Official Look at DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

The CW has released a brand new trailer, officially giving us a glimpse of the heroes and villains who will makeup the cast of their latest DC comics-based show to join the TV network. Legends of Tomorrow looks to further extend the already wildly successful Arrow and Flash TV series universe by bringing together some familiar faces from both shows – and adding a few new ones.

Time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter must assemble a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat to the planet…and to time itself. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is coming soon to The CW.

This trailer confirms all the speculation since the initial announcement of the series that Caty Lotz will be reprising her role as Sarah Lance (debuting as White Canary), even though her character was killed off in the season three premiere of Arrow. Just how they plan to reconcile that little detail remains unknown, but it is likely they will stick to the dead-reviving reality that has already been established in the Arrow universe (cough Lazarus Pits cough).

Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/ATOM), Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein/Half of Firestorm), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), and Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heatwave) round out the cast of familiar faces, with the additions of Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter and Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl.

Legends of Tomorrow travels to our DC television universe on The CW this fall.
