Unboxings: LOOTCRATE Exclusive WonderCon 2016 Crate Unboxing

I’ve been attending WonderCon 2016 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, and I happened to stop by the Loot Crate booth to get some goodies! This is their exclusive WonderCon 2016 edition of Loot Crate that you can only get at WonderCon. I actually hadn’t really thought about it, but I was wearing the new DareDevil/Punisher beanie that came in their March 2016 “Versus” themed crate. I do like DareDevil, but there is something about the Punisher that made be choose his side! Anyway, one of the girls at the booth recognized it of course and told me a lot of people were choosing the Punisher side too.  Check out what I got in the box below!

Review: Littlest Petshop: Little Pets, Big Adventures

LPS_LPBA_PS300dpiOut on DVD today is Littlest Pet Shop: Little Pets, Big Adventures. This DVD collection is based on the popular Littlest Pet Shop toy brand from Hasbro. The series first debuted on The Hub TV network back in November and now the half-hour series is available to own.

The story follows Blythe Baxter, a young girl who loves fashion and designing clothes. When she and her dad move to a new apartment located above the Littlest Pet Shop store, Blythe suddenly discovers that she has the uncanny ability to communicate with the animals. This sets the stage up for some unique adventures as Blythe learns to adjust to her new surroundings, deal with a clique of “mean girls”, and relates to the eccentric pet shop owner, Mrs. Twombly.

Like many animated series targeting towards children, we have the usual song and dance numbers that deal with self-confidence and friendship while providing a moralistic tone. However, this series does have enough stylization and narration to hold the attention of adult viewers. Especially those adult viewers who are constantly trying to find appropriate shows to share with their kids.

With an all-new original music by Daytime Emmy® Award nominee Daniel Ingram and the vocal talent of Ashleigh Ball, Tabitha St. Germain, Nicole Oliver and Peter New. Littlest Pet Shop: Little Pets, Big Adventures provides great family entertainment.

The DVD collection includes the following five episodes:

  • Blythe’s Big Adventure – Parts 1 & 2
  • Bad Hair Day
  • Gailbreak!
  • Penny For Your Laughs

The DVD also features bonus content that includes coloring, sheets, the all new featurette, ““A Look Behind The Pet Shop Doors”, and an offer for a virtual collectable pet through the Littlest Pet Shop game app.

Review: My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic: A Royal Pony Wedding

my little ponyJust in time for all the bronies out there, five episodes that comprise the royal pony wedding arch from the popular My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic series. This series currently airs regularly on the HUB TV network in the US. The series is based on the hugely successful toy line from Hasbro. The five episodes included in the DVD are as follows:

“A Canterlot Wedding, Part 1”
“A Canterlot Wedding, Part 2”
“Hearts And Hooves Day”
“Sweet & Elite”
“The Best Night Ever”

The bonus features include 2 sing-alongs “Love Is In Bloom” and “Valentines Day Song” as well as a printable coloring sheet.

The story centers around the betrothal of Princess Cadence to Twilight Sparkle’s older brother Shining Armor. While everyone else seems to be thrilled about the impending nuptials, Twilight Sparkle is not at all pleased with the news.

The themes in the story introduce a very seldom talked about situation in families, when siblings grow up, move away, marry and have families of their own, sometimes a disconnection can occur between those siblings who grew up together so closely. As Twilight Sparkle struggles through her fears, it mirrors some misgivings that many siblings have when their older sibling is about to leave the family home to begin their own adult life.

As bronies will know, My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic often takes the unconventional approach to exploring life lessons and showing parallels in the relationships we have between friends and family in real life.
